We all know how hard it is to work with kids around...so the sooner you set up some rules with your kids and make sure to use them all the time the easier it will be.
My hardest is the phone, it is like my kids have a radar. As soon as the phone is in my hand they have a problem that has to be solved right then...so set up some phone rules, unless there is an emergency they are not to bother you on the phone. I am working on this one, it is getting better.

Default Time of Day

Try to set one certain time of day when you can work on your business. Everyone in the house must leave you alone at this time. (unless there is a real real emergency)

I get most of my work done after I put the kids to bed.

Always set aside a time of day or night...just for you to do as YOU wish. I generally do this after the kids are in bed and the house is quiet. I also love my (albeit..short) time in the morning to have that first cup of Joe, before the kiddos start rolling in...the first cup is always the best!!

Have your office space - even if you don't have an office.

You need a business area of your home where only business takes place.

I find that with two little ones who can't just be left to their own devices that if I set up an area in my workspace for them to play with their favorite toys, I can get more work done. That way they can see me and be with me but play on their own.

Make certain your office has a door even if it is the bathroom door

Don't work between the hours of 3:30/4:00 until after bedtime. Kids need us and if we are always on the computer or phone working, they will DEMAND our attention in less productive ways.
I make sure I am "there" for my kids right after school and save all the admin work for after dinner and/or bedtime.

Definitely a set schedule. If you are home, during school hours. Maybe a couple hours in the morning. Otherwise after bedtime. Planning a daily routine with a day timer may help.
